Having really enjoyed the first three books of this series, I expected much more from this one. I wouldn't have paid $7.99 for this mess had I known. It has some very interesting ideas, but they are not well executed. What happened to the editor? The main character, Harper, pulls some seriously idiotic stunts in this book. Let's see, we've just been attacked several times by monsters, so I think I'll go walk my new dog. Umm, shouldn't you be worried especially since you are now staying at your own place, which everyone knows? Okay, how about we go off for an entire day knowing that our boyfriend is supposed to be back around 1pm - but it doesn't occur to you to worry when he doesn't answer the phone ALL DAY? I could name a bunch more plot and character problems, but don't want to give away too much.Here's what I did like - the boyfriend is a good guy. That he lets her make up her own mind is something every guy needs to get. He is confident in his own self enough to let her do the fighting. Also, getting to talk with her Dad's ghost is nice, I'd personally love the chance to do that with mine.
There's just too much that was weak in this to give a good rating. It's okay, but you're not going to want to read another one after this.

Loved the book. As usual Harper is magnificent. The fact that she can withstand pain and other things with super human strength is part of the fun. Suspension of disbelief is easy in these well written stories. I don't recommend this as a stand alone. Be sure to read the previous books in the series.
I do wish all the books were numbered to help keep the track clear. I'll continue to buy Harper Blaine or Grey stories by Kat Richardson as long as shr cares to right them.
I'm enjoying this book, just as I did the others... and maybe this is a nitpick, but I'm finding one problem very distracting. All of the words beginning with "q" are capitalized... such as "Quiet" and "Quickly", etc.
It's distracting because I automatically try to assess the significance of the word, and then realize that there is no significance to the capitalization; I mean, I'm no longer doing that, but it still is kind of intrusive and makes the sentences read less smoothly.

I only dabble in fantasy...yet find Kat Richardson's Greywalker series a wonderfully written treat which keeps me waiting for the next installment! Her characters are likeable, complex and very realistic people with well written consistent personality types..the stories are amazing, keep me on the edge of my seat and have many wonderful twists and turns I don't tend to figure out like many other reads! If you haven't tried this series, I recommend you pick up Greywalker and give it a shot! Do read the books in order, as the stories are cohesive (which I love, makes me think and remember, or go check the last book for clues) and could probably make one huge wonderful book! Although this series does not contain any humor, it is fascinating. I hope she comes out with more books soon, as I have read (or listed to) every one of them twice.
I like the book but you can be very improved. The one person view the entire book and all the books is one dimensional. Quinton can do a lot more but Harper always wants to protect people. L Give him a good role. The description of Harper feelings with the gray is always the same. ... I'm tired of her getting sick vomiting retching through the whole book. How can a ghost smell so freaking disgusting? If she sees a monster it makes her sick. Stop it already!! It doesn't really describe the monster but it does makes me sick.
Again, I am very glad that I continued this series from Kat Richardson. As I have mentioned in previous reviews, I was not really thrilled with the Greywalker series. I continued to read it because the concept intrigued me and I am so glad I did. Great read!
This entire series is a reader's joy, but this book was fast paced and still kept me on the edge of my seat. I stayed up, reading in to the wee hours just to finish it because I could not sleep until I'd finished. I'm now getting my husband hooked.
I like Harper Blaine. I like her unapologetic way of living, even if she feels a bit guilty for thinking of ditching her boyfriend for a few hours of peace and MyTime. She's strong, but she realizes her weaknesses and she's scared. I don't think I would like her half so much if she were a tough, "my way or the highway" kinda gal. She knows what has to be done, and even if it makes her gag, she does it, because it must be done and on one else is around volunteering to do it.
I'm just begging, please don't ruin her romance with Quinten. He gets her and she gets him. He keeps her sane in a world that is becoming even more crazy to her.
