Thistle Winchester never thought of herself as responsible, but when Overlook helper Belinda gets a chance to go to a special conference and learn about opening her own business, Thistle volunteers to watch Belinda’s daughter Annie.
Thistle was the queen of rotten children so she thinks Annie will be easy. How hard can one child be to handle, after all? That feeling only lasts until Annie disappears into the frigid woods surrounding Hemlock Cove.
Thistle is at a loss and desperate to find her, so she calls for reinforcements. After that it’s a mad race, with everyone who loves Annie tearing apart the town to find her.
Answers are never easy, and when clues start rolling in Thistle and Aunt Tillie are left to piece together a puzzle that is years in the making and could have dire consequences.
It’s all hands on deck for another Winchester adventure. When the end comes, Thistle finds her belief system shaken to its very core … something she will gladly overcome to get Annie back.
Note This is a 28,000-word short set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It is set between The Trouble With Witches and Murder Most Witchy.

I have read all of this series and, in the beginning could not get enough of them. As the books progressed, I kept reading because I got such a laugh with Aunt Tillie's high jinx. I am sorry to say even Aunt Tillie has become boring. The conversations are the same, story lines progress in the same manner and the characters are seriously stuck. Something new needs to be added to each character to make her or him interesting again and Annie needs some major time out. She is not cute, she is just a brat!Product details

Thistle While You Work A Wicked Witches of the Midwest Short eBook Amanda M Lee Reviews
OK, I am a total Amanda M. Lee fan and admit to being addicted to her writing. This series should be read in order since the works are sequential. All are 1st person POV with the books all told by Bay, and the short stories narrated by the supporting characters. This one is told by Bay's cousin Thistle, and it shows us a little softer side to her character. I only wish it had been a little longer, but then it was a short.
This is the book I've been craving that I didn't even know I needed.
If you've read ANY of the Witchy books, you know Thistle and know all about her famous personality- but Thistle While You Work brought out another side of her personality to play and while it is a heavier short than some of the others, I think it does a lot to develop this character and give me a whole new appreciation for her and what makes her tick.
I can always count on the Winchester Witches for a chuckle filled read. But this one included a few guffaws. This series is my go to for rest and relaxation. The Writer has done a fine job with this one. Thistle's softer side is a bit maudlin, but the family comes to the rescue with some great one liners and the snarkiest snark I've seen in a while. Strangely enough, all while dealing with a really serious subject. Great short story. I can't wait to read what Aunt Tilly and the family get up to next. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite book series families! Aunt Tillie is a riot as always. It's great to spend time with the whole clan. This story brings in the adopted members of the clan and we learn about what is next for Annie and her mother. Annie is taken, but it is more complicated than a bad guy showing up. This could have easily been turned into a full novel, but then I'm guessing it couldn't be part of the mystery series since the main character is not Bay and no one was murdered. Like all of the shorts in this series, it should not be missed.
I just wish this book was a little longer. She could have really gone somewhere with tying together Thistle & Annie's disappearances to make the story a little more involved. And I know she was trying to keep the "heart" in the story with the ending, but it was just a little off to me.
That being said, I never get tired of these books. They have just enough humor to keep me distracted and entertained. And my new life goal is to become Aunt Tillie.
For those who have been following Aunt Tillie is her usual self & Landon is still overly bacon-obsessed (bordering on annoyingly so). So you know you'll love it.
For those who have not been following the series You fall in love with them (though I suggest you start from the beginning). They're a tight-knit, quirky family with lots of heart (and magic).
Another engaging short from Amanda M. Lee. As usual I enjoyed the story, dialogue, and setting quite a lot. Most of the characters had a bit of development, but the focus was on Thistle (as the title suggested), Annie, and Marcus, with just a bit for Belinda. And I would have liked a bit more development for Thistle than what we got. After all these novels and shorts she feels juvenile and lacking in some way.
Sadly, there were minor proofreading errors. I fear that has became the normal for self published writers in this era.
I can easily recommend the series; but this book, while still good, is passable. I hope we get another full length novel soon.
A pretty good read. 3.5 Stars I liked the plot, there was a bit less snark and at least Thistle demonstrated a bit of character development and growth.. I empathize with Miss Lee balancing act as she tries to allow the characters in this Series to truly develop and grow and yet please her fans. Case in point, one reviewer wrote that the Thistle in this story wasn't the Thistle that she knew and loved. However, this very change in Thistle's thoughts and behaviors (i.e. Character development) in this book is one of the primary reasons I enjoyed this story and why I enjoyed it much more than I did e.g." Four Leaf Clover" wherein the characters' mental processes and behaviors were pretty much unchanged and remained the same as it was in the very first book in the Series. I too felt that Annie's behavior was not cute or adorable and that she behaved and talked back like a brat. Yea, at the very least, she needed a very extended serious time out! The resolution to the mystery was rather disappointing .
